Warm days bring out the alligators!

The days are getting warmer here.
Today the temps got up to 85 and guess who came up from the deep?
(well, that pond isn't really that deep)
These alligators are just about a mile from my house in a pond
(on a golf course)
that I pass on my way to work.
the golfers just play around them.
I kept my distance.

  1. Yikes, I hope the gaters stay in their neck of the woods and don't venture down to your house. Lots of bloggers have been posting about seeing snakes too. Yuk! Love & blessings from NC!

  8. Gators are in our part of the country here in South Louisiana, also. My cousin had an alligator farm for years. They are cooked like chicken and served at some gatherings.
Frankly I have tasted it but it is too course for me. I fear snakes worst.

  9. GREAT photo!
We've had them come up in our yard from the marsh. It's very rare though. It's mostly when it's SUPER DUPER HOT! and they are looking for fresh water... One time it was only a tiny wire fence between my yorkies barking at it from inside their fenced area and this 10 ft. or more gator... scary! It was trying to get to where the washing machine water flows out in the yard and the sprinkler for the garden was and then the koi pond. All those fresh water sources right there together... Now when they bark and bark, I take it more seriously and go check it out sooner. They bark a lot at the horses, but this was a different kind of bark that I'll never forget. SO SCARY!
