Sunset Beach Bridge...the last swing bridge in NC replaced

We are gearing up for Spring here.
I posted this picture a while back telling you
that our little swing bridge was being replaced with a new
high rise bridge.
I know we will like the convience of the new bridge.

We have been using it and it makes getting on and off of the
Island so much faster and easier.

We used to have to wait for the bridge to open for boats
and swing closed for cars.

It even opened every hour on the hour when nothing
was waiting to get by.

Well, here is the finished product.
The little bridge is gone and the new one is tall enough
for the boats to go under.
No more opening and closing.
No more waiting for the boats to pass.
No more getting out of your car and waving to the Captains
as they pass and blow their horns.

(sigh)

  1. I saw this last summer when I was there. It will be so nice, but I know you will miss the nostalgia of the old bridge. Hope you are doing well. Can't wait to get back down and thrift again this summer. Love & blessings from NC!

  2. Bittersweet in a way, but very convenient. I miss an old railway bridge that passed over a scenic backroad, in our small town.

  3. What a beautiful view....I love the water and all of the shades of blue with the white bridge against it.

Now I am off to read about your Thrift Store....
