working on some furniture

At the first of the year,
I began looking for a little house in the NC mountains.
Prices of homes (especially 20 year old homes)
are very low now.
Interest rates are very low also now.
We did find something at the foot of the blue ridge.
Since then I have been on the look out for old and
cheap furniture to redo for the house.

I found this TV cart in our thrift store for
$10 and painted it.

This little photo display bird cage is another of my finds.
$4.00 I think.

But, this cabinet is my best find.
It was white with stickers
from a little girls room all
over it.

I painted it Nantucket blue mixed with some white
paint I had from a past project.
I sprayed the pulls and the birdcage
shiny black.

I am pleased with the result.
I photographed them on my sun room back porch
where they are waiting to be transported to the
mountain house.

I'll write some about the house soon.
When we are there we are so busy painting and
scouring the Thrift Stores that I just have not had a chance
to write a post about it.

Before and after photos will be here in the future.

  1. Look forward to seeing pictures of your new home away from home. I love the Blue Ridge! I would love to be sitting up there in the snow--I think it would be beautiful.
    Love,
    Marie
PS: You did a great job on your finds.
