After church on Sunday
I started sewing the faces for some
dolls that a friend is making.

She hates the hand work
I love it.
So, she hired me to make these sweet faces.

It's a fun way to spend the afternoon.

hand poured candles.

Did you ever pour candles?
It is an easy craft.

I researched it on Chickens in The Road blog
and Comming Home blog.

In the Thrift Store, I have access to many
beautiful containers for little money.
These crystal jars were $1.00 each.

These punch cups hung around the store for a long
while, because the punch bowl that came in with
them was broken.

I paid .25 for them.

I did buy my wicks and scents from A C Moores.
My wax was repurposed from candles donated to the
Thrift Store but they had been burned some
and were not suitable for resale the way they were.

I used some old crayons to deepen the colors.

I've been looking for some cute candy wrappers for my
Sunday School class to cover Hershey Bars to give
to an adult class for Christmas.

necklaces anyone?

I made a bunch of bottlecap necklaces.
These bottlecaps were purchased from AC Moores
I got a large pack with silver, pink, blue and black ones.
They already had holes punched in the top for hanging.
I don't remember the price, but about $4.00, I think.

Some were stickers that I got at ACM also.

The charms were from broken jewelry at the Thrift Store.



The necklaces in this photo were made from sculpy clay.
kneed, shape, bake...rub with some paint for texture.
Add a leather lace and bead and your good to go.

These are sculpy also.
I used some brading cord for some of them.

I really enjoyed making these.
They are a little different from the kinds of things I usually do.

Christmas Crafting again...

I made some notebooks for some of the
teens and tweens on my list.

I bought notebooks on back to school sales
and covered them with maps or music pages.
I found things that matched the kids interests
in magazines and ads.

For the older ladies on my list,
I covered larger notebooks with scrapbook papers
and decorated the covers with stickers and
flowers and hand drawn pictures.

I really like this frog that I drew,
I also drew him on several things at work.

I still have more to show ya;
But that will have to wait till tomorrow!

crafting gifts for boys

This play mat is for a little boy.
He will be content driving his little cars
up and down this little road.

The light green fabric on the edge has
pockets to park the cars in.

This little guy's dad works for the Forestry Service.
He rides all around the forest keeping the campers
and the wild life safe.

I thought that one truck in one pocket would
be better for him.

I have some notebook journals that are for boys and girls.
I also made some necklaces from bottle caps and
some from sculpey clay.

I'll show them to ya tomorrow.

Crafting for Christmas with boys in mind...

Thanksgiving Blessings to all of you,
We went to 2nd son's home for the dinner.
We had a great time but now it is time to get
serious with the Christmas List!

I've been missing for a while.
Not to worry,
I've been in the craft room in my free minutes.

Crafting for boys is usually more difficult than
crafting for girls.

But, I think these desk caddies are a good choice
for those "tween" guys.
The fabric covers I made to fit on an
oversized coffee mug.
I've made  5 of them.

Play mats for boys with Hot Wheel cars are also
on the cutting table.

I'll show them to ya tomorrow.
I'm gonna get around and see what everyone else
has been doing!

Doing a Little Sewing on my Day Off

I got this great old basket at the Thrift Store.

I also got a big bag of cloth scraps.
The colors are great and they were scraps from other sewing projects.
I ironed them and cut them into 6" squares
I cut half of the squares into 3rds and sewed them together


I added some batting and sewed the two pieced sides together.
I didn't hand quilt it because it wasn't going to be an heirloom quilt
just a basket liner.


It looks pretty good, don't you think?


This is another project that I finished today.
I did the embroidery in the fall, but just ironed it and put it aside for another day.
Today I put a border on it and backing and made a pillow.
It turned out to be a very enjoyable day.
